Making an average home more energy efficient.
1 – Whole house test for air leakiness.
The Blower Door test one of the things that sets us apart from our competitors is our attention to detail. Our blower doors full house test also puts us in a better category. Here is the sequence of our energy inspection and the typical scope of work for a 30+ year old home:
This test requires some training. In our case, the BPI certification of “Building Analyst” which focuses on the blower door test of homes. The first test we perform with the blower door tells us the “baseline” of how leaky your home is and about how much we can improve on it. The baseline is a total house “leakiness” test that tells us how much air is moving uncontrolled through walls, switches, outlets, light fixtures and so forth.
2 – Checking whole house with blower door
During the blower door test, we will pressurize the whole house. This pressurized condition will help our technician find the leaks around doors, windows, electrical and plumbing penetrations and more. All of this information get written down as a “scope of work”. The scope of work is a list of recommended action items to perform.
3 – Scope of work is created based on the blower doors test
4 – All work is documented
5 – Improve your comfort and energy efficiency
We retest the blower door and establish if all of the areas of concerned we correctly completed. This “proof” of the work performed is also provided to you in a certificate form. This is yours to keep for your records or ass along to any new owners in the future.
